We continued our research into Shearwater flushing this morning followed by an educataional presentation at Lord Howe Island Primary School where Laura and Adrian talked about the impacts and solutions of plastic pollution. Laura was luckily enough to get covered in the once thought to be extinct Lord Howe Island phasmid or Dryococelus australis. She was pretty excited! Rochelle Ferris saved the day as she was able to remove fishing line and release a Woodhen back to where it was found. Dr Jen Lavers also performed a necropsy on a Flesh-footed shearwater and discover large pieces of plastic in its stomach.
